December 24, 1989, I was found on a doorstep.
The Doctors assumed I was about 2 days old- so, for 28 years, December 22nd has been my birthday- and that, it shall remain.
This is my favorite story- the in depth explanation of my adoption story.

This is one of my favorite topics surrounding food!
Were you raised to always clean your plate before leaving the dinner table?
Do you feel guilty throwing food away?
What about if you spend a ton of money at a fancy restaurant? How do you feel about leaving food on your plate there?
This one's a good one!

Ever wonder if you're eating macros?
Or like, how do you eat a macro?
In this episode of the Food Freedom series, we're talking all about macros: what they are, how you know what's a macro, and how this was one of the most liberating experiences of my dieting history.
If you haven't listened to episode 1 of this series, do that before listening to this one!

Episode 1 of an undetermined number of the
FOOD FREEDOM series.
There's a lot of bullshit to sift through out there when it comes to food. And exercise. And happiness. And weight loss. And confidence.
So, I'm answering some of the most common misconceptions, some of the most confusing parts about those things within this series.
This episode is all about calories. Sort of. But also, why we're so confused about all of this. It's NOT complicated- but right now, it SO SO is.
Here are some of the episode highlights if you want to skip ahead:
8:32- studies that are funded and cater to self-serving biases
9:35- adding calories to your diet with Bullet Proof Coffee?
9:55: how to lose fat. Period. Science.
11:24- when and why I was my heaviest
14:32- healthy food isn’t really a thing
15:38- healthy food has nothing to do with weight loss
24:00- what to do if this episode doesn’t resonate with you yet
Stick with me here through this series, and we'll get it ALL sorted out!

Do you REALLY think you're overweight because of Thanksgiving? Do you TRULY believe you still have 20+ pounds to lose because each year you overeat just on Thanksgiving? This is a year round issue, my friends.
I, for one, am exhausted by the amount of crap all over the place about how to handle the Holidays. Eat this, not that.
Do this, not that.
Listen here: you and your loved ones will all die someday. If you want to miss out on experiencing the food around your Thanksgiving table tomorrow, so be it. For me, trying to lose an extra pound or two right now pales in comparison to the importance of enjoying a Holiday, filled with homemade food that was cooked with love, and sharing it around a table with the people who mean the most to me.
The quest to help as many women as possible end their fight with food is just beginning. There is a lot of work to be done. If you're experiencing anxiety or already anticipating guilt about tomorrow- this one's for you.

This one feels like I'm standing naked in front of all you- which, actually at this point would be less scary than talking about the M word... money.
I wasn't always willing to offer up my naked body (ha!) but that's because I've spent years fighting for the right to love myself, my body, and all of its flaws.
So what does this have to do with money?
For me, I'm realizing it's one in the same.
CONFIDENCE doesn't just have to be about what we look like. Why? Because confidence is a FEELING, not a certain LOOK.
Truth be told, I am confident AF about my body because I taught myself how to be. Does this mean I have what society would deem a perfect body? NOT EVEN CLOSE! And the best part is- I don't even care! *shakes unperfect hips anyway*
What I'm NOT confident about these days is my money. Not even close.
Just like the stories about our bodies, the story surrounding our relationship money starts from childhood. And we burry ourselves within these stories. So I'm laying it ALL out there for you today on this episode, because I can't just TALK about being confident, I gotta BE about it.

This is an impromptu episode- but it is SO important to me!
Pay no mind to the infographics you will see all over social media that tell us how many calories we need to burn off in order to eat whatever piece of candy we want.
In this episode, we briefly cover the surface about how to pave the way for guilt-free eating, devoid of the diet mentality. Want some Halloween candy? Go for it. But, do so mindfully and without guilt while still inching closer to your goals. Win-win.

Well, ladies- I've done it. I've managed to say the "F word" more than ever before in an episode- woops!
This is a no holds barred episode, and I'm throwing it all out there.
First, I answer the question I hear a few times each week:
"When is this supposed to get easier?"
And then-- well, then I go into a tirade about coming to the realization that I cannot *make* anyone want to change their life. There are days, even weeks, where I get down on myself and wonder if I'm making a difference because I work with so many women that I just can't help. On top of those women, are the hundreds, if not thousands of women who I've encountered who I know I *could* help- but they're not ready. This ends up being a pretty personal episode- inside the head of a woman trying to change the world.

Want me to stop swearing?
Sorry. I can't. I've tried.
If you've followed me for any length of time- you'll know that I don't preach extreme.
If any one diet has a protocol that says "Eat this, not that", I'm out.
If any one diet has a protocol that says "here is what you CAN eat, here is what you CANNOT eat", I'm out.
Once the dial is turned too far from center- it's a red flag that it's too extreme- will likely lead to a poor relationship with food, binge eating episodes, and although it may lead to insane weight loss at first- your chances of keeping it off forever are slim to none.
This is why creating healthy, sustainable, and ENJOYABLE habits are the key to losing weight, without losing your mind, once and for all.
In this episode, I interview one of my life long friends, and have her recall her journey through a few insane diets that she tried.
Have questions about the diet you're currently following?

The #BCB in-person workshop is over and done with and it was AMAZING! The online course is open for enrollment and I am over the moon with all of the feedback from you ladies <3
In this episode, I'm talking about people who make comments about what you're eating (or not eating) and how to OWN your food choices.
I'm also talking about how I ate almost 3 donuts, why I didn't commit myself to extra cardio, and how it's really all OK.

I'm telling you- I get weirder and weirder with each passing episode. And I liiiike it!
Today, we're talking about intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation, and which one you NEED in order to be able to adopt a healthy lifestyle once and for all.
I make a mention to a certain study- and here is the link if you want more information on that here.
There are NUMEROUS studies out there that also support the fact that exercise has been proven to help reduce anxiety and depression. This article is just one of those things.
As always, if you have any questions, you can email me

Women come to me all of the time opening up about their body image issues. Almost daily.
I LOVE this conversation because it allows me to talk about what I'm most passionate about-- how the fuck are we supposed to love our body if we're not 100% where we want to be? Maybe we're not as lean as we want to be right now, maybe we're 50 pounds away from our goal weight, maybe we remember how we used to feel 5 years ago before we had kids, and we so desperately want to feel that way again.
What if I told you that FEELING that way, the way you once did before, actually has nothing to do about what your body looks like right now?
In this episode, I talk about how it's similar to the house you're living in and the car you're driving. Weird, right?
Listen to find out what I mean!
I also reference the Confidence Project's first in-person workshop: Body Confidence Bootcamp! You can get more info on that here.

What do you want written on your headstone?
Bleak- I know- and not *quite* what I'm talking about today- but, sort of.
Your self-identification can either help you or hurt you.
Do you consider yourself the chubby girl? Because that's who you were 20 years ago? What about now?
Or do you consider yourself a fit, confident badass?
What's the difference? Why does it matter? And how can you bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be? I'm talking allllll about it today!

What's the most overlooked and ignored component on the quest to the most confident, strong, and badass lifestyle?
Sorry to ruin the surprise, but: it's the way in which we speak to ourselves.
How you talk to yourself determines whether or not you will succeed in the long haul. It determines how you feel- will you feel like a strong badass women the next time you step in the gym? Or a self-hatred-filled, guilty, anxious shell of your highest potential self? Think about it.

Believe it or not, we all have these stories we tell ourselves about ourselves.
"I'll never lose weight."
"I'll always be fat."
"I always have to overeat ice cream!"
"I don't have any self control."
Sounds like you've already made your mind up to just continue sucking.
If you're fine with a complacent life- get on with your bad self.
If you're sick of your bullshit and ready to let it go so that you can FINALLY stop getting in your own way, and live the life you deserve- then this episode is FOR YOU!
In my next life, I'll be a financial advisor for boss women looking to take control of their relationship with their budget and their money.
In this life, so far, I'll stick to what I do best- coaching women to become the strongest, most confident version of themselves.
With that being said- are your manicures and pedicures acting as a bandaid to a bigger issue? Is your purse shopping obsession just a mask to make yourself feel better? In some cases, if you're anything like I was back in the day, the answer is yes.
I "didn't have" money to invest in actual things that would make me feel TRULY better about myself. Instead, I wasted my money on superficial, fleeting things like manicures, pedicures, new wardrobes, expensive shoes, more make-up (the list goes on), in an effort to somehow love myself.
I am NOT saying that treating ourselves to these things is bad. IT IS NOT.
What I AM saying is this-- are you truly investing in yourself? In things that add to YOU and give quality and passion to your life? If not- why?
There's a huge psychological component that I hardly even begin to touch surface level in this episode- but, we do scratch the surface just a bit!
If you hate the way you eat, and you hate the way you exercise, what's the point?
Remember when you thought you were fat? And now you look back and hate yourself for even feeling that way?
We're talking about that today.
We also talk about why I don't give a care in the world about others' opinions about my body and why you shouldn't either.
I am fully aware that the sound quality on this episode is for shit.
I recorded while driving- ha!
If you can get past the sounds of the road (or better yet, just pretend we're BFF's and chatting on a road trip!) I promise there's some good take aways in this one!
Starting this week, we'll be back with a super short episode every Monday.
Each Monday Morning episode will be just what you need to kickstart your week off right. With episodes being short, you can listen while you brew your first cup of coffee of the week, on your way to work, or before you head to the gym first thing in the morning.
I'm willing to bet the second half of your year will kick so much ass if you implement each week's message into your life, in one way or another.
So, here we go!
I used to abuse exercise and food like it was nobody's business.
No wonder I constantly felt uncomfortable- and even more so, could never, ever lose weight.
When you participate in negative self-talk, you make it easier to partake in negative behaviors- which, usually, manifest into overeating, eating shitty foods, and not taking care of yourself.
Even when I used to exercise 3 hours a day, 7 days a week- my body never reflected that I was active. I so badly wanted people to look at me and say "wow, she must workout!"
Although, YES, changes were made to my training style AND my nutrition, I wasn't able to apply ANY of those concepts because I didn't think I was worth it.
"I'm so fat. I'm so disgusting" rang true for years.
Guess what? I continued to behave in such a way that CONFIRMED that I was "so fat. so disgusting."
There's a better way.
"Where the mind goes the man follows."
You HAVE to get your head right FIRST if you want to change your body FOREVER.
It starts with you. How you think about yourself and what you say to yourself MATTERS and has major implications on your actions.
In this episode, I talk allllll about it!
