A listener wrote in and asked:
"Alcohol.. since listening to my body more, I've been consuming
less alcohol. I may still order it out, or not, but I only
sometimes finish my drink. In the past, especially in college, I
had this mentality that alcohol should never be wasted and always
be finished. There is also such a social pressure component to
consume it at parties or out with friends, and there are certainly
times where you may not feel up to it or have a tummy ache or what
not."
So, how do you navigate drinking?
In today's episode, I talk a bit about my party days. I left out
enough information that my parents wouldn't hang their heads in
shame (ha!) but I also give you enough details to shed some light
on my former party-girl days. Don't you worry though, the drinking
didn't stop after college. It spilled over into my adult life for
quite some time until I finally got a handle on what was important
to me.
If you're like me, you think that at some random age, the peer
pressure to stop drinking just... stops. It doesn't. Adults more
than twice my age continue to pressure me into taking shots on
shots on shots. And I talk exactly about how I chose to navigate
this.
At the end of the day, your body is always telling you what to do.
And it's up to you to figure out what feels best and above all,
it's up to you to align your actions with your goals.
